Flavors That
Cross Borders
We are Mi Pequeño México, a family-owned, Puebla-style Mexican restaurant in Newark's Ironbound at 81 Ferry Street, and this is our official website. For 25 years we've made our moles, adobos, and salsas from scratch, and pressed our corn tortillas by hand on the comal every day. BYOB.
This place is Don Celso's life. He came to the U.S. as a teenager and started at the bottom, washing dishes at a Greek diner in Manhattan, then working his way up to the stove. Twenty-five years ago he opened his own Mexican kitchen on Ferry Street, in a row of Portuguese and Spanish taverns, back when almost nobody thought Mexican food belonged here. He bet on the food he grew up on: the cemitas, the adobos and guisados, a mole that tastes like our village instead of the sweet kind you get in the city.

What Our Customers Say
10/10
"The food here was absolutely delicious! Was craving for authentic Mexican food and I finally found the right one here in New Jersey. The restaurant itself is very welcoming and well decorated. I ordered 3 entrees, an appetizer and 3 different drinks, im indecisive what can I say. For my appetizer I had nachos with salsa and as for beverages arroz con leche, Jamaica and Tamarindo was all 10/10 "

We'll definitely go back!
"Service was great, the lady was super attentive and friendly, she made sure to explain the dishes and the specials they had for the day, she also made suggestions as to what we might enjoy the most. The food was delicious, the tortilla was corn tortilla instead of the flour ones and the flavor of the meats were spot on. I've been here just a few times and the last time was the best one. I'm definitely coming back here after."

The best tacos
"Easy 5 stars. The best tacos I've had in NJ, fantastic guac, and while it's not fancy it's very affordable. After several visits we've tried most of the menu and it is consistently amazing food. If you're in Ironbound and want Mexican GO HERE!"

Amazing experience
"The enchiladas were phenomenal (make sure to upgrade them to mi pequeno style!). The red sauce had a nice heat, the rice and beans were flavorful, and this dish was VERY filling."
